The Latest News, Articles, and Events in Signal Processing

Thiagarajan, Jayaraman (Arizona State University), “Sparse methods in image understanding and computer vision”, Advisor: Prof. Andreas  Spanias (2013)

Image understanding has been playing an increasingly crucial role in vision applications. Sparse models form an important component in image understanding, since the statistics of natural images reveal the presence of sparse structure.

The Industry Digital Signal Processing Technology Standing Committee (IDSP-SC) promotes emerging signal processing applications and industry technologies and also encourages industry participation in the IEEE Signal Processing Society.

The SPS Board of Governors recently approved the creation of Special Interest Groups.

The Technical Committee on Signal Processing Theory and Methods (SPTM TC) has been very active over the last six months and a number of changes have been introduced.

Nominations must be received no later than Wednesday, 16 October 2013.

The Fellow Reference Committee Chair, Alle-Jan van der Veen is seeking nominations for four new members of the 2014 Fellow Reference Committee.

The interests of the Signal Processing for Communications and Networking Technical Committee (SPCOM TC) span those areas situated at the crossroads of the IEEE Signal Processing (SPS), Communications (COMSOC), and Information Theory (IT) Societies.

Nominations are due 31 January annually for the IEEE Technical Field Awards (TFAs).
