The Nominations and Appointments Subcommittee for each Technical Committee is currently seeking nominations for new Members, as well as the Vice Chair position for some Technical Committees.
The Signal Processing Society (SPS) has 12 technical committees and two Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that support a broad selection of signal processing related activities defined by the scope of the Society. Technical Committees and SIGs are actively involved in awards, conferences, publications, and educational activities, and provide technical advice to the Society’s leadership.
The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the position of Chief Editor for the Signal Processing Repository (SigPort) for a 3-year term starting 1 January 2015. SigPort is in the development stage, but it will be the Society’s online archive of manuscripts, reports, theses, and supporting materials.
The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the positions of: Chair, Women in Signal Processing Subcommittee and Chair, Young Professionals Subcommittee. The term for both Chair postions is three years
Your vote is important! The election of Directors-at-Large for Regions 1-6 and Region 8 (term 1 January 2015 through 31 December 2016) and Members-at-Large (term 1 January 2015 through 31 December 2017) of the IEEE SPS Board of Governors is now open.
The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) has more than 16,000 members worldwide – over 16,000 people’s worth of knowledge and ideas spread around the globe. While the conveniences of modern technology have certainly made worldwide communication easier, there’s great value in exchanging ideas face-to-face.
The mission of the Information Forensics and Security Technical Committee (IFS TC) is to promote activities within the broad technical areas of information forensics and security. The main activities addressed this year were the outcomes of the first IEEE Image Forensics Challenge, the organization and future organization of the two IFS workshops WIFS’14 and WIFS’15, and the nomination of the next IEEE TIFS Editor in Chief.
The Board of Governors of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) has allocated $40,000 for Member-Driven Initiatives for the 2014 calendar year. The funding is open to all Signal Processing Society members, Chapters and Committees. All proposals must include the involvement of one or more local Chapters to encourage geographic development.
Now IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form at the related TC section pages.
The Mitra Lab at Cold Spring Harbor is looking to fill a postdoctoral research position, open from June 01 2014, by someone with experience in image processing and analysis.
The “Center for multidisciplinary research on signal processing” (CMRSP) is looking for post-doc candidates.
IIIT-H is a research institute established in 1998, has eight research centers in various areas of electronics and communications engineering and computer science. The institute has plans to strengthen existing research centers and set up new research centers.
In particular, the institute is looking for faculty in broader areas of VLSI/Embedded systems, robotics, signal processing and communications for electronics and communications engineering.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society is accepting proposals for the 2020 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP®). SPS Members are invited to submit a proposal to host ICASSP.
Τhe 6th edition of the International Symposium on Communications, Control, and Signal Processing (ISCCSP 2014) was held during 21-24 May 2014, in Athens, Greece. In addition to regular papers, ISCCSP 2014 included six exciting plenary lectures and many special sessions. About 170 participants gathered from 43 countries around the world to present their recent research results and discuss in a wonderful setting.
For our July 2014 issue, we cover recent patents granted in the area of Lidar based environment perception and modeling. The section below covers patents granted recently for Lidar related signal processing methods focusing on road traffic safety, robotics, radio service availability assessment or image based positioning.
The following SPS Distinguished lectures will be held in the upcoming months
The IEEE Signal Processing Society welcomes proposals from prospective organizers of 2014 winter schools under the S3P (Seasonal Schools in Signal Processing) Program. S3P seasonal schools are typically either summer schools or winter schools, and are geared towards providing graduate students, early stage researchers, and practitioners with background on selected topics in signal processing.
We would like to bring to your attention two articles from the IEEE Pulse Magazine that we believe will be of interest to Signal Processing Society members
IEEE recently introduced the Student Transition and Elevation Partnership (STEP), a program designed to facilitate the seamless transition from IEEE Student member to young professional by emphasizing the value of IEEE membership at the onset of a STEP career. Through STEP activities and IEEE’s educational and professional resources, we strive to inspire students to consider IEEE membership as an asset during the beginning stages of their careers.
