The Design and Implementation of Signal Processing Systems Technical Committee (DISPS TC) promotes and supports activities of SPS in the several areas including (i) design, development and implementation of signal processing systems, (ii) design of algorithms with implementation in mind, and (iii) design of software tools and methodologies to support the design of signal processing systems.

A postdoctoral research fellow position in cybersecurity is available at Virginia Tech, for an initial appointment of one year, renewable based on the performance and availability of funding.

In the past two decades, significant progress has been made in automatic speech recognition (ASR) and statistical machine translation (MT). Despite some conspicuous differences, many problems in ASR and MT are closely related and techniques in the two fields can be successfully cross-pollinated.

The Board of Governors (BoG) is the governing body that oversees the activities of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. Four new Members-at-Large will take their seats on the Signal Processing Society Board of Governors beginning 1 January 2012. Three will serve for a three-year term until 31 December 2014 (Philip Chou, C.-C. Jay Kuo and Anna Scaglione) and the fourth (Fernando Pereira) will fill a vacant Member-at-Large position for the 2012 calendar year.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award will be presented for the first time in 2012. The award will be presented annually to a Chapter that has provided their membership with the highest quality of programs, activities and services.
