10 years of news and resources for members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society
Chair, 2018-2019 SPS Nominations and Appointments Committee
DEADLINE: 15 FEBRUARY 2019
IEEE Signal Processing Society Past President Rabab K. Ward in her capacity as Chair of the Society’s Nominations and Appointments Committee invites nominations for the IEEE Signal Processing Society Officer positions of President-Elect for the term 1 January 2020-31 December 2021 and Vice President-Membership for the term 1 January 2020-31 December 2022.
The Signal Processing Society is striving to engage its members more directly and also more strongly in Society affairs and activities. As a result of this effort, there have been some recent process changes for the President-Elect election. Starting from the 2019 election cycle, you will now be able to vote and elect your Society President-Elect by direct vote, who automatically succeeds to President. To date, the practice in our Society has been for the Board of Governors (BoG) to elect the President-Elect of the Society. Moving forward, the BoG will finalize a slate of candidates and these candidates will be subsequently subjected to an open vote by the Society membership at-large to select the next President-Elect. All members are encouraged to participate in this important activity when the voting cycle opens on 15 August 2019.
Also new this year, nominations for the President-Elect and Vice President-Membership positions must be submitted through the new online nomination system. The following information is required for each nomination: candidate name, contact information, IEEE Region, IEEE member number, candidate’s brief biography including information about current SP, IEEE, or other Society volunteer activities, a photo, as well as a statement of interest stating the candidate's vision for the position. Nominations must be received no later than 15 FEBRUARY 2019. Full details can be found on the web.
