News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society
Dr. Lalitha Vadlamani, 2019 Chair IEEE Communications and Signal Processing Society Joint Chapter of IEEE Hyderabad Section.
We are very happy to receive this prestigious award. On behalf of the Chapter, we would like to thank the Signal Processing Society for recognizing our volunteering activities. The goal of the Chapter has been to bring together academicians, industry, and students with similar technical/research interests in the area of signal processing and communications. The following are some of the salient aspects of our Chapter’s activities:
Flagship Lecture: We organize a flagship event known as Alexander Graham Bell Memorial Lecture every year and invite an eminent researcher to speak.
HyWIT Workshop Series: We have started organizing a workshop series, where we invite speakers from premiere institutions in the country to give half a day tutorial on cutting edge research areas. Each year, the workshop comprises of eight half-day lectures spread over two weekends designed to enhance industry participation. We received support from the IEEE Signal Processing Society for organizing the workshop under the Chapter Driven Initiative Program for two consecutive years. The 2019 edition of HyWIT focused on sparse signal processing and applications. We received great feedback about the workshop series, especially from researchers working in the covered areas.
Initiatives to Increase Participation and Membership: We organize events of interest to diverse audiences and in geographically diverse locations. These include workshops on the basics of signal processing in All India student congress while also holding sessions highlighting the benefits of joining SPS.
Thank you to the highly committed team of volunteers who have participated in various ways to make the Chapter vibrant. We also look forward to coming up with more innovative activities in the future.
Dr. Lalitha will receive the 2019 SPS Chapter of the Year Award on behalf of the Hyderabad Chapter during ICASSP 2020 in Barcelona from IEEE Signal Processing Society President Ahmed Tewfik.
