Call for Nominations: Chair, Women in Signal Processing Committee and Chair, Young Professionals Committee

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the positions of the Chair, Women in Signal Processing Committee and Chair, Young Professionals Committee. The term for the two positions is three years (1 January 2021-31 December 2023).

The Women in Signal Processing Committee Chair heads the Women in Signal Processing Committee and is responsible for identifying value/benefit/services to women members and recommending policy/mechanism for recruiting women members; developing programs and material to facilitate women member recruiting and services; maintaining and developing contacts with leadership and membership constituents; and providing proper communication channels and feedback. The Women in Signal Processing Committee is also responsible for identifying, vetting and submitting women candidates for award and board/committee nominations. The Women in Signal Processing Committee works with the Technical Committees to create a liaison position within each of the Technical Committees to help support their efforts. The Women in Signal Processing Committee Chair is a voting member of the Membership Board.

The Young Professionals Committee Chair heads the Young Professionals Committee and is responsible for identifying value/benefit/services to young professional members and recommending policy/mechanism for recruiting young professional members; developing programs and material to facilitate young professional member recruiting and services; maintaining and developing contacts with leadership and membership constituents; and providing proper communication channels and feedback.  The Young Professional Committee Chair is a voting member of the Membership Board.

Nominations should be submitted to Theresa Argiropoulos via t.argiropoulos@ieee.org on behalf of K.V.S. Hari, SPS Vice President-Membership. When making your nomination, please provide the following information:

  • Name of candidate
  • Member Number
  • Contact information
  • Brief biography including information about current SP, IEEE, or other Society, as well other volunteer activities (paragraph style, not bullets).

Nominations must be received no later than 10 July 2020. The call for nominations can be found on the Society’s website at this link.
