Member Highlights

Member Vladimir Pavlovic tackles sensors in our latest blog post, “Sensors and Sensibility.” Read more.

  • SPS Big Data Special Interest Group Chair Patrick Wolfe on recommendation engines in Information Week. Read more.

In this series, we aim to introduce senior society members and other experts of the signal processing field. This month, we are happy to introduce Prof. Vincenzo Matta from the Department of Information and Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics of the University of Salerno, Italy.

The final rouSpectrogramnd of the 2016 Signal Processing Cup took part at ICASSP in Shanghai. This year's international undergraduate competition explored using a time-varying signature embedded in media recordings to determine the location-of-recording.

In this series, we introduce a scientist, who makes use of signal processing techniques for his research findings, by means of an interview. This month, we are happy to introduce Dr. Florian Meyer from Vienna University of Technology, whose research interests mainly focus on message passing algorithms for statistical inference.

This month, we are happy to introduce Prof. Alexander Bertrand who is currently Assistant Professor at the Electrical Engineering Depatrtment (ESAT) of KU Leuven, Belgium. His research involes signal processing design with a focus on biomedical applications, such as electroencephalography (EEG), neuro probes, body area networks, hearing aids and cochlear implants. He also conducts research in generic signal processing techniques, with a focus on multi-channel and distributed signal processing, spatial filtering, beamforming, adaptive filtering, and signal enhancement.

In this series, we aim to introduce society members and other experts of the signal processing field. This month, we are happy to introduce Riccardo Lazzeretti, Post Doc from Information Engineering and Mathematics Department of the University of Siena. His research activity is mainly focused on privacy-preserving applications based on secure two-party computation tools.

In this series, we aim to introduce senior society members and other experts of the signal processing field. This month, we are happy to introduce Prof. Hamid Krim in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, leading the Vision, Information and Statistical Signal Theories and Applications group, whose research interests are in statistical signal and image analysis and mathematical modeling with a keen emphasis on applied problems.

2016 IEEE Technical Field Award Recipients Announced

The IEEE Board of Directors has approved the 2016 IEEE Technical Field Award and 2015 IEEE Eric Herz Outstanding Staff Member Award recipients. The complete list of recipients and their citations is online at www.ieee.org/awards. Please feel free to send your notes of congratulations and to publicize the recipients within your other IEEE and professional affiliations.

The 2015 IEEE Honors Ceremony was a Memorable Event!

In this series, we aim to introduce senior society members and other experts of the signal processing field. This month, we are happy to introduce Prof. Sergios Theodoridis, Professor of Signal Processing and Machine Learning in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at the University of Athens.
