The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is honored to announce the elevation of 13 of its members to the grade of IEEE Senior Member. These members have demonstrated outstanding professional performance, exhibited professional maturity through long-term experience, and established themselves as leaders in their respective IEEE-designated fields of interest. Senior Member is the only membership grade that is eligible to be nominated for IEEE Fellow. The new Senior Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society are:

Professor Alfred Leo Maria Fettweis, one of the pioneers of digital signal processing passed away on August 20, 2015 in Bochum, Germany. Our community has lost a giant who made seminal contributions not only to engineering, but also to science. His ideas were visionary and far ahead of his time.

IEEE 2nd World Forum on Internet of Things - Technologies, Applications and Social Implications is a unique event for industry leaders, academics and decision making government officials. This event is designed to examine key critical innovations across technologies, which will alter the research and application space of the future.

At its 20 June 2015 meeting, the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) Board approved adding the rebate schedule to Section 9.0.E of the MGA Operations Manual. Including the rebate schedule in the MGA Operations Manual will ensure members and volunteers have direct access to the official MGA approved rebate definition, eligibility requirements, and schedule. The rebate schedule has also been streamlined to remove repetitive information and clarify areas such as activity bonus for affinity groups and rebates for members in geographic units outside of Sections.

The fourth IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobalSIP) will be held in Greater Washington, DC, USA on December 7–9, 2016. GlobalSIP has rapidly assumed flagship status within the IEEE Signal Processing Society. It focuses on signal and information processing and up-and-coming signal processing themes. The conference aims to feature world-class speakers, tutorials, exhibits, and oral and poster sessions. GlobalSIP is comprised of co-located symposia selected based on responses to the Call for Symposium Proposals. Topics include but are not limited to:

At its 20 June 2015 meeting, the MGA Board approved revisions to Section 9 of the MGA Operations Manual, regarding term limits for Section, Chapter, and Affinity Group officers. These revisions are reflected in Sections 9.4.F.7, 9.6.D.5, and 9.9.D.6 and are to be in effect for all elections for terms of office starting 1 January 2016.

Now IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form at the related TC section pages.

To submit job announcements for a particular Technical Committee, the submission form can be found by visiting the page below and clicking on a particular TC. A link for the form can be found in the sidebar menu of the TC pages. Jobs can also be viewed from its individual TC pages or a combined listing that includes all TC jobs.

IEEE Future Directions is your resource to emerging technologies within IEEE. The team has identified specific technologies as primary focus areas and has established them as formal initiatives to engage IEEE and the general public. For each initiative, you can find a wealth of knowledge, resources, and opportunities to participate.
