News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society
As a special benefit to IEEE members for the month of December, IEEE-USA will offer “Starting Your Start-Up -- Book 2: Market Size and Strategy,” by Tanya Candia. The “Starting Your Start-Up” e-book series is designed for the engineer or entrepreneur who has a promising product or service idea, but no real marketing expertise. “Book 2: Market Size and Strategy” helps flesh out the initial plan and find the real market size, even when dealing with a disruptive technology in which market size data is hard to find. The book also helps the entrepreneur better understand the target buyer and how to communicate the value of their product or service, thus increasing the probability of early and ongoing sales.

For the month of January, IEEE-USA will offer “Shaping an Engineering Career - Book 1: Responding to Career Challenges - A Personal Journey,” by Gerard H. (Gus) Gaynor. This is the first in this IEEE-USA 2014 Communicator Award of Excellence e-book series. The purpose of the series is to identify the different circumstances that technology professionals have encountered in building their careers, and to provide some guidance about what is required to build a successful career in technology, or related disciplines. The series describes the challenges that practitioners, academics and their managers face -- in engineering and related disciplines -- in building their careers. It documents the personal history of selected engineers, and describes their journeys in transitioning from entry-level employees to managers, or other technology professional positions.

IEEE-USA E-Books seeks authors to write an e-book, or a series of e-books, on career guidance and development topics. If you have an idea for an e-book that will educate other IEEE members on a particular topic of expertise, e-mail your e-book proposal to IEEE-USA E-Book Chair Gus Gaynor, or IEEE-USA Publishing Manager Georgia C. Stelluto.
