The Brazilian Telecommunications Symposium (SBrT) will take place in Brasilia, from September 13 to 16.

The election of Members-at-Large (term 1 January 2013 through 31 December 2015) and the Directors-at-Large for Regions 1-6 and Region 8 (term 1 January 2013 through 31 December 2014) of the IEEE SPS Board of Governors is now open. Ballots must be received at IEEE no later than 30 August 2012 in order to be counted.

Six IEEE Signal Processing Society Presidents (five past and one current)  got together at the recent meeting of the IEEE Board of Directors in Boston on Friday, 29 June 2012.

The IEEE Board of Directors has nominated IEEE Fellows J. Roberto Boisson de Marca and Tariq S. Durrani as candidates for 2013 IEEE President-Elect. The two men, chosen by the board in November, are set to face off in the annual election this year. The winner of the election will serve as 2014 IEEE President.

The SPS Awards Board is now accepting nominations for 2012 major SPS awards, including the Society Award, the Technical Achievement Award, the Education Award, the Meritorious Service Award, the Best Paper Award, Young Author Best Paper Award, Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award and Best Column Award.. Prospective nominators are encouraged to submit nominations well in advance of the deadline of 1 October 2012.

Region 9 of the IEEE Signal Processing Society has seen a lot of new activity recently.
