The Latest News, Articles, and Events in Signal Processing

The IEEE Signal Processing Society invites nominations for the 2017 Class of SPS Distinguished Lecturers (DLs). The deadline for nominations is 31 May 2016. Each year, up to ten (10) technically diverse and geographically dispersed individuals serve as IEEE Signal Processing Society Distinguished Lecturers.

Welcome to the Spring 2016 edition of the IEEE Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee's Newsletter! This issue of the newsletter includes 5 articles and announcements from 6 contributors, including our own staff reporters and editors. Thank you all for your contributions!

Many modern signal processing (SP) methods rely very strongly on probability and statistics tools to solve problems; for example, they use stochastic models to represent the data observation process and the prior knowledge available and they obtain solutions by performing statistical inference (e.g., using maximum likelihood or Bayesian strategies).

The 2016 IEEE Image, Video, and Multidimensional Signal Processing (IVMSP) Workshop is the 12th of a series of unique meetings that bring together researchers in academia and industry to share the most recent and exciting advances in image, video, and multidimensional signal processing and analysis. The main theme of the 2016 IVMSP Workshop is low-dimensional models for image and video processing and analysis.

IEEE Signal Processing Magazine

The IEEE Signal Processing Magazine (SPM) Columns & Forum (C&F) articles are designed as tutorial-like papers aimed at a broad audience, from Master's students to researchers and practitioners in the broad field of signal processing and beyond.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is honored to announce the elevation of 42 of its members to the grade of IEEE Senior Member. These members have demonstrated outstanding professional performance, exhibited professional maturity through long-term experience, and established themselves as leaders in their respective IEEE-designated fields of interest. Senior Member is the only membership grade that is eligible to be nominated for IEEE Fellow.
