Biomedical signals have been widely used in the clinical setting for diagnostics, guiding therapy, patient monitoring, disease prevention, and risk assessment. The special issue of Proceedings of the IEEE in Feb. 2016 comprises 12 reviews that address challenges in applicative biomedical contexts by emphasizing the relevance of the methodological problem, the clinical importance of extracted information, and the possibility for future technological developments.

The Conference Best Paper Award for Industry recognizes author(s) of an ICIP and ICASSP/GlobalSIP paper of exceptional industrial merit and industrial impact dealing with a subject related to the Society’s technical scope. To be eligible for consideration, the paper must have been submitted to ICIP or ICASSP/GlobalSIP.
The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is accepting proposals from Regions 1-6 (USA) or 7 (Canada) for the 2017 IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobalSIP). SPS Members are invited to submit a proposal to host GlobalSIP.
The fourth IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobalSIP) will be held in Greater Washington, DC, USA on December 7–9, 2016. GlobalSIP has rapidly assumed flagship status within the IEEE Signal Processing Society. It focuses on signal and information processing and up-and-coming signal processing themes. The conference aims to feature world-class speakers, tutorials, exhibits, and oral and poster sessions.

The nomination period for the 2017 Fellow Class is open and will continue through 1 March 2016.
Nominations are due 31 January annually for the IEEE Technical Field Awards (TFAs). IEEE TFAs are awarded for contributions or leadership in a specific field of interest of the IEEE and are among the highest awards presented on behalf of the IEEE Board of Directors.
All IEEE members are encouraged to submit a nomination for a worthy candidate within their technical fields.
All Section officers and Chapter/Affinity Group chairs will be contacted with a reminder that the following annual reports are required to be eligible for a rebate:
Each year, the IEEE Board of Directors confers the grade of Fellow on up to one-tenth of one percent of the members. To qualify for consideration, an individual must have been a Member, normally for five years or more, and a Senior Member at the time for nomination to Fellow. The grade of Fellow recognizes unusual distinction in IEEE’s designated fields.
