The purpose of the IVMSP TC is to promote and guide the advancement of the field of image, video, and multidimensional signal processing. One of the TC’s most important responsibilities is overseeing the organization and the technical program, and serving as core reviewers, for the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP). The technical program for ICIP 2009, which will be held in Cairo, Egypt, in November 2009, recently been finalized with the TCs active involvement. Interested SPS members may approach a current TC member to seek nomination to join the TC during this Fall's new member election.

Seven candidates competed for the three Member-at-Large positions. The successful candidates represent a broad spectrum of the Signal Processing Society, and the Board of Governors will confirm the election results at the next meeting in November 2009. The successful candidates are: Alex Acero (Microsoft Corporation, USA), Antonia Papandreou-Suppappola (Arizona State University, USA), and Mats Viberg (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden).
The AE TC promotes the advancement of technologies and applications in audio and acoustic signal processing and to enhance interaction with similar organizations within IEEE and throughout the world. The TC is represented in several new SPS initiatives. The community around the AE-TC is looking forward to the next edition of the IEEE Workshop on Applications of Signal Processing to Audio and Acoustics (WASPAA 2009). The recent ICASSP 2009 was also a great success for the AE community and has led to an on-going Special Issue of IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing on "Processing reverberant speech: methodologies and applications", with manuscripts due by October 15, 2009.
Two publications of the IEEE Signal Processing Society welcome new Editors-in-Chief beginning January 2010 for the term that will run until 31 December 2012. The new Editors-in-Chief are:
