Signal Processing Plays Prominent Role at 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show

Held in Las Vegas each January, the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world’s largest consumer technology trade show.

This year’s event featured 2,700 exhibitors spanning 30 product categories and covering just about every type of home, small business, and vehicle gadget.

Not surprisingly, given its critical presence in a wide range of electronic technologies, digital signal processing plays a big role in many of the products showcased at CES. This year was no exception, with DSP chips and related technologies appearing in an array of advanced, innovative consumer devices, including HDTVs, smart phones, tablet PCs, digital set top boxes, home and vehicle audio systems, digital/HD radios, Blu-ray disc players, ink jet and laser printers, and other products. To learn more about CES 2011’s highlights from a signal processing perspective, please read the special report in the May issue of IEEE Signal Processing Magazine.
