Renaming of Society Level Awards

Society News

In 2017, four of the Society’s Major Awards were renamed after a proposal by the Awards Board. The name changes we officially approved by all parties earlier in 2018 and will be put into effect for the 2018 awards cycle.  The new award titles are noted below.

 IEEE SPS Education Award  IEEE SPS Carl Friedrich Gauss Education Award
 IEEE SPS Society Award   IEEE SPS Norbert Wiener Society Award
 IEEE SPS Technical Achievement Award  IEEE SPS Claude Shannon-Harry Nyquist Technical Achievement Award
 IEEE SPS Meritorious Service Award   IEEE SPS Leo L. Beranek Meritorious Service Award

 

The Awards Board is currently reviewing the renaming of additional Society Awards including the paper awards.  Further information will be brought forward at a late date when a decision has been made.
