Education & Resources

The website that houses IEEE's collection of online courses has been completely overhauled.

The former IEEE Expert Now has become the IEEE eLearning Library, and it uses new software for delivering tutorials. The site includes more than 200 courses and webinars from universities, training organizations, and IEEE units. Also there is now a section for IEEE content in iTunes, in the area where universities and nonprofits can post their content for users to download for free.  The library contains short, online courses in core and emerging technologies.

The IEEE eLearning Library, recently launched for organizational subscriptions, now also provides technical professionals and students with access to individual, fee-based short courses and conference workshops. Members of IEEE receive a further benefit of a members-only discount.

Technical Activities has expanded its volunteer training program to include short, on-line volunteer training modules.

Each module will focus on information or a process that will assist volunteers in their IEEE activities. The goal of the program is to provide key volunteer information in a convenient, user-friendly format. A listing of currently-available modules can be found at: http://www.ieee.org/go/volunteertraining.

Do you have a unique hobby or passion that others find interesting? If so, The Institute - IEEE's membership newspaper - is interested in hearing from you.

Each quarterly print issue of The Institute features IEEE members in its "Part-Time Passions" section. To have your part-time passion considered for an article, please send an email to institute@ieee.org. To view a sample article, go to http://tinyurl.com/institute-part-time-passion.

IEEE continues its program to develop curricula for use with first-year students studying electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, biomedical engineering and electrical engineering technology. In its fourth successful year, the program seeks high-quality, hands-on, team-based projects that focus on real-world problems with solutions that benefit society.

Speaker recognition is a computing task to establish or to verify the speaker’s identity using the speaker’s voice. Spoken language recognition is a task to identify or to confirm the language, dialect or accent that is spoken given a speech sample.

Speaker and language recognition are typical pattern recognition tasks that aim to classify speech signals based on a priori knowledge and statistical information extracted from the patterns.

The face has been of keen interest to behavioral scientists. About 15 years ago, computer scientists became increasingly interested in the use of computer vision and graphics to automatically analyze and synthesize facial expression.

we would like to bring your attention to DSP Blogs. There are posts on various DSP related topics, from DSP researchers in both academia and industry.
