Machine Learning for Signal Processing

Technical Committee

How to become a member

The MLSP Technical Committee has three types of membership:

  • Members (elected, voting, 3 year term)
  • Associate members (appointed by chair, non-voting, term decided by chair)
  • Affiliated members (non-elected, non-voting, unlimited term)

Member election is conducted in the fall every year with the goal of replacing approximately 1/3 of the members. When the call for new members is announced, potential members can submit a self-nomination or can be by nominated by a current member of the committee. Updated information about the election process can be found on the Home page.

Associate Members actively contribute to the TC’s activities and subcommittees but do not hold voting rights. They are appointed directly by the TC Chair and their term coincides with the Chair’s mandate.

Affiliate Members are typically PhD students, young researchers/professionals who engage with TC activities and subcommittees, but do not hold voting rights. To learn more about affiliate membership and to sign up, please visit the TC Affiliate Member page.

The following are recommended activities for those seeking membership in the technical committee:

  • Actively pursue research and development in the area of machine learning for signal processing.
  • Publish high-quality research papers in a number of the following journals: IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on Audio and Speech Processing, IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, IEEE Signal Processing Letters; and the following conferences: International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP), International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), IEEE Workshop on Machine Learning for Signal Processing (MLSP).
  • Participate and volunteer in the organizational activities of the IEEE Workshop on Machine Learning for Signal Processing.

Expressions of interest in becoming a Regular, Associate or Affiliate MLSP TC Member can be submitted by filling out the following form.
