The Latest News, Articles, and Events in Signal Processing

Beginning January 2010, several of the IEEE Signal Processing Society's Technical Committees (TCs) have new Chairs taking leadership roles.

Links and more information about the 13 TCs in the Society can be found at this link.

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) invites application for a post-doctoral research associate position, which will be a part of a team comprising faculty, other academic staff and graduate students working in Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering and Civil and Environmental Engineering, at RPI.  We are particularly interested in attracting highly motivated individuals with expertise in the general area of statistical signal processing, with emphasis on

The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island is seeking applicants for several research assistant positions with immediate opening in the following research areas: (1) biomedical signal processing, (2) information security and system reliability, (3) robotic control, and (4) high performance embedded system.

A system with a feedback loop typically experiences a delay between its forward and feedback paths. This is a phenomenon commonly observed in power amplifiers and can be addressed with a Cartesian feedback linearization loop that seeks to synchronize the forward and feedback paths for optimal performance.

The research group led by Dr. Erchin Serpedin at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Texas A&M University (College Station, TX) invites application for a postdoctoral research associate position.  The anticipated research work will lie at the interface between information theory, coding, optimization, and statistical signal processing.

The 2009 Annual Reporting and Rebate cycle process is now underway.  All Section Officers and Chapter/Affinity Group Chairs have been contacted with a reminder that the following annual reports are required to be eligible for a rebate:

The IEEE Division IX Division-Director Nominating Committee invites nominations for the position of Division IX Director. Division Directors are elected to the IEEE Board by members of Societies they represent.  They first serve as Directors-elect before becoming Directors and Members of the IEEE Board.  Division Directors represent the membership of his/her Division in the IEEE Assembly as a voting delegate.

In accordance with the Bylaws of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, the membership will elect, by direct ballot, THREE Members-at-Large to the Board of Governors (BoG) for three-year terms commencing 1 January 2011 and ending 31 December 2013, as well as ONE Regional Director-at-Large each for the corresponding regions: Regions 1-6 (US), Regions 7 and 9 (Canada and Latin America), Region 8 (Europe/Middle East/Africa) and Region 10 (Asia/Pacific Rim) for two-year terms commencing 1 January 20

The IEEE Signal Processing Society congratulates the following 38 SPS members who were recognized with the grade of Fellow as of 1 January 2010:
