News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society

September 2012

IEEE members are requested to participate in the annual IEEE elections. The balloting period will end on Monday, 1 October.

A high impact of research on societal development is fundamental, and signal processing has a lot to offer to achieve this goal. Our highest mandate of IEEE Signal Processing Magazine (SPM) is first-class publications as feature articles, special issue articles, or in columns and forums. As the EIC of SPM, Prof. Abdelhak Zoubir would like to encourage more colleagues to get involved and participate; SPM welcomes your suggestions for timely and most interesting topics for special issues, feature articles, or columns.

Now IEEE SPS has built a streamlined mechanism for employers to add a job announcement by simply filling in a simple job opportunity submission Web form at the related TC section pages.

To submit job announcements for a particular Technical Committee, the submission form can be found by visiting the page below and clicking on a particular TC. A link for the form can be found in the sidebar menu of the TC pages. Jobs can also be viewed from its individual TC pages or a combined listing that includes all TC jobs.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award will be presented for the second time in 2013. The award will be presented annually to a Chapter that has provided their membership with the highest quality of programs, activities and services.

This is a time of rapid changes in the publication world, with the opportunities that electronic publishing generates. Taking advantage of these changes, the IEEE Signal Processing Society staff and volunteers are looking for ways to better serve their authors and readers. In addition, the IEEE is also more broadly pursuing innovations in content delivery. As SPS Vice President-Publications, I would therefore like to alert you to the advances that are already in place and developments to look for in the future.
