Lead Engineer – Signal Analytics, GE Global Research

Job Details: The Software Sciences and Analytics team is bringing together our knowledge of data, analytics, and computing to grow GE's businesses in exciting new ways. The Sensor and Signal Analytics Laboratory at GE Global Research, within the SSA organization, consists of statistical signal processing and data fusion experts whose work spans a broad range of applications from improving vital sign monitoring of hospital patients to maximizing the energy output of wind farms. The lab sees much need for signal analytics skills in the future and we are actively seeking candidates to expand the team.

Applicants are expected to have an outstanding technical background and excel in the execution of projects in involving statistical signal processing (detection, estimation, tracking, filtering, modeling, and system identification) and data fusion. Experience with diagnostics and prognostics and/or acoustics is also desirable.

As a Lead Engineer – Signal Analytics, you will:

  • Conceptualize problems, apply appropriate theory, explore approaches, simulate, and implement solutions.
  • Address and solve practical as well as research problems.
  • Develop prototype systems and transfer to GE businesses.
  • Interact and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, internal and external to GE.
  • Demonstrate breadth as well as depth in problem solving.
  • Determine near-term and future business needs in signal analytics for GE Aviation, GE Energy, GE Healthcare, GE Transportation, GE Wind, and other GE businesses.
  • Prepare well-written proposals and deliver strong oral presentations of proposed ideas.
  • Establish a recognized track record of patents and publications.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 3 years of relevant post-degree experience.
  • Strong software skills, including Matlab or C/C++.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel a minimum of 6 times per year
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
