Research Scientist at Samsung Research Institute

Venue: SAMSUNG Research Institute Brazil, Campinas, SP.

We are looking for motivated research professionals, preferably with Posdoc, PhD and/or strong R&D background in Computer Sciences, Electronic Engineering and related areas to join SAMSUNG Research Institute Brazil and help us develop "the next big thing" in Intelligent Services, Natural Interfaces, Intelligent Content Delivery, Data Security, and Instrumentation (details below).

SAMSUNG Research Institute Brazil is part of SAMSUNG's global R&D network. We are tasked to hire topnotch talent and carry out basic research, creating innovative offers that can solidify SAMSUNG position as a global leader. Moreover, we aim at fomenting SAMSUNG's mind share among the community of innovators and academics by promoting the development of intellectual property and dissemination of knowledge through relevant publications. SAMSUNG has a strong presence in the academic community by supporting research projects and publications. In 2012, SAMSUNG produced 5,043 patents in the US, being the 2nd top produced since 2006.

We invite outstanding candidates to apply for a position that involves responsibility for carrying out a research agenda that involves conjugating basic research and practical applications. We are building a research team with core competence around:

  • Intelligent Services, through research and development in agent-based computing; social analytics; decision support, adaptive systems, and others.
  • Natural Interaction, through research and development in natural language processing, speech recognition, text analysis, new models of human interaction, and others.
  • Intelligent Content and Delivery, through research and development in video and image coding, optimization, processing and data mining; augmented reality; signal processing, and others.
  • Data security, through research and development in data encryption and protection, secure transmission and services, and others.
  • Advanced instrumentation, through research and development in sensors, smart materials, Internet of Things, wearable computing, and others.

Essential criteria are:

  • PhD (preferable Postdoc) and/or strong R&D background in Computer Sciences, Electronic Engineering and related areas;
  • Experience in one or more of the aforementioned core competences;
  • A relevant research track record as evidenced by research publications;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, with a demonstrated ability to convey information to and build rapport with all levels of staff within a diverse work environment;
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with a range of personnel from both industrial and research environment.
