The Summer School will be organized by the University of Zagreb from June 8-14, 2013 in wonderful and unique Dubrovnik, Croatia, also known as "The Pearl of the Adriatic".

In its heyday, it was a bustling, flourishing city protected by its mighty defensive walls. This unique medieval setting has been preserved and was inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.

The VideoSense Summer School focuses on Ethically-guided and Privacy-respecting Video Analytics, which is organized by the VideoSense EU FP7 Networks of Excellence.

Following the previous successful Summer School in Dublin (you can watch a short video here), the Second VideoSense Summer School will be held on 30 June 2013 in DSP2013 premises, Santorini, Greece.

At first, machines were mainly used to solve complex mathematical problems. Today, they often embody more and more roles typically endowed by humans, such as a tutor in a virtual learning class or an assistant for virtual task realization.  A socially aware virtual character should be endowed with humanlike social capabilities.

The 2013 IEEE Signal Processing Society Summer School on Biomedical Image Processing and Analysis (SSBIPA 2013) will be held from June 8-14, 2013 in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Bipartisan legislation introduced in the Senate on 29 January includes the largest increase ever to the H-1B program.

The bill, S. 169, would more than triple the size of the H-1B program, while making nominal increases to the EB green card program.  If passed, the bill would be a boon to outsourcing companies while costing American workers tens of thousands of jobs.

At first glance, processing of encrypted signals seems like an oxymoron: once signals are encrypted the necessary information to do any meaningful processing is obscured. Fortunately this contradiction is only seemingly, and there is a growing community of researchers exploring and discovering new methods to manipulate encrypted signals.

In March 2013, the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine brings you a special issue on signal processing in the encrypted domain (SPED).
