News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society

Publications News

Submissions to the special issue in the IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED TOPICS IN SIGNAL PROCESSING should be original. Submissions to the special issue in the IEEE SIGNAL PROCESSING MAGAZINE should have significant tutorial value.

Two publications of the IEEE Signal Processing Society will welcome new Editors-in-Chief beginning January 2013 for the term that will run until 31 December 2015.

These new Editors-in-Chief are:

W. Clem Karl
W. Clem Karl (Boston University) for the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, succeeding Thrasos Pappas, (Northwestern University), and

This special issue is devoted to the memory of the late Alex B. Gershman whose contributions are a cornerstone of advances in array processing made over the last three decades. Alex was an active member of IEEE SPS.

Alex’s seminal work is a pillar, which holds strong and steady the rising volume of sensor array processing research. He solved longstanding problems and made fundamental contributions to sensor array processing that inspired many others to follow suit, and paved the way for a continuous influx of new and innovative techniques.

There were more reports of plagiarism in 2011 than in any year prior. The increase in the number and severity of plagiarism cases is a serious threat to the quality of SPS’s conferences and IEEE Xplore®.
