Call for Papers: First IEEE International Conference on Emerging Signal Processing Applications

The first edition of the International Conference on Emerging Signal Processing Applications (ESPA) will be held from January 12 to 14, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

EPSA intends to serve practicing engineers and will have a strong emphasis on applications and cutting-edge practical signal processing. ESPA is co-located with and follows the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to enable attendees to learn about SP technology in the latest products announced in CES, as well as the SP technologies that may help create future CES products. Attendees will learn about emerging applications of Signal Processing including (but not limited to):

  • 3D technology for gaming, telepresence
  • Gesture recognition for games and natural user interfaces
  • Digital photography
  • 4G wireless
  • Robotics
  • Multimedia tablets
  • SP in automobiles: speech interfaces, cameras
  • Voice search
  • SP with multicore processors
  • IPTV

Attendees will learn about the current technologies from the major industry and academic players in the field, and about the future directions from visionary keynote speakers. In addition to the keynotes, panel discussions on hot topics, and tutorials, we would like to focus attention on the following two important parts of ESPA:

  • Presentations with or without an associated paper: Unlike other IEEE SP conferences which require a paper submission, ESPA provides the option of oral presentation only, to enable presentations on new technologies announced at CES. Please note that the oral-only option requires an abstract submission and the oral+paper option requires a paper submission, which are reviewed for potential acceptance. If a paper is submitted and accepted then it will be available in the IEEE digital library (similar to other IEEE conferences).
  • Demonstrations: A highlight of ESPA will be demonstrations of novel applications of signal processing. Presentations (without paper). Brief proposals should be submitted including title, abstract, bio, target audience, and contact information for the presenter.

The submission instructions are as follows:

Papers: Prospective authors are invited to submit papers, two to four pages long including figures and references, to the ESPA Technical Committee who will select papers according to potential interest to industry attendees. All ESPA papers and abstracts for presentations will be handled and reviewed electronically.

Demos: Brief proposals must include title, description of the demo, target audience, and contact information for the presenter.

Tutorials: These will be held on January 12, 2012. Proposals must include title, outline, description of the tutorial and material to be distributed, and presenter contact information.

Important Dates:

Submission of Papers/Presentations/Tutorials Aug. 15, 2011
Submission of Demonstration Proposal Oct. 1, 2011
Notification of Papers/Presentations/Tutorial Acceptance Oct. 10, 2011
Notification of Demonstration Acceptance Oct. 10, 2011
Submission of Camera-Ready Papers Nov. 11, 2011
Author's Registration Deadline Nov. 11, 2011
