For our March 2016 issue, we cover recent patents granted in the area of time of flight technology development and applications, used for mobile device communication, tomography, 3D localization, dynamic range control and range imaging systems.
In accordance with the Bylaws of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, the membership will elect, by direct ballot, THREE Members-at-Large to the Board of Governors (BoG) for three-year terms commencing 1 January 2017 and ending 31 December 2019, as well as ONE Regional Director-at-Large each for the corresponding regions: Regions 1-6 (USA) and Region 8 (Europe, Middle East, Africa) for two-year terms commencing 1 January 2017 and ending 31 December 2018.
The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is accepting proposals from Regions 1-6 (USA) or 7 (Canada) for the 2017 IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobalSIP). SPS Members are invited to submit a proposal to host GlobalSIP.

Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts of LETTERS. Letters are four page articles designed to provide rapid dissemination of original, cutting-edge ideas and timely, significant contributions in signal, image, speech, language and audio processing.
Submissions/resubmissions must be previously unpublished and may not be under consideration elsewhere.

2015 was an exciting year for the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS). We launched several new initiatives that will lay the foundation for many years of growth, establishing a renewed vision and sense of purpose and look towards the future of our Society and our field.
The Summer School on Robust Signal Processing is organized by the Signal Processing Group at Technische Universität Darmstadt. We invite Ph.D. students, early career researchers and engineering practitioners to participate in the Summer School, what promises to be a unique event run by world-class experts.
