IEEE Video and Image Processing (VIP) Cup

GLOBAL UNDERGRADUATE COMPETITION IN SIGNAL PROCESSING

CHALLENGING TRAFFIC SIGN DETECTION: The 2017 VIP Cup is a sign detection competition under challenging conditions. Robust and reliable traffic sign detection is necessary to bring autonomous vehicles onto our roads. However, validation of state of the algorithms lack a comprehensive understanding of detection or recognition performance with respect to challenging environmental conditions. To overcome this shortcoming, we introduce a video dataset that includes a plethora of challenging conditions. The goal of this challenge is to implement traffic sign detection algorithms that can robustly perform under such challenging environmental conditions.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? Teams formed of three to ten undergraduate students, at most one graduate student, and one faculty member.
