The IEEE Technology Navigator — an online tool that enables users to visually comprehend the connectivity between technical areas covered by IEEE Societies and Technical Councils through a horizontal interface — has received new features. A new tab includes openings from a given keyword search from the IEEE Job Site. Additional features planned for 2012 include:

• a tab displaying the names of IEEE members in the IEEE Xplore digital library who have written on the topic at hand;
• within the Resource View, ability for users to opt-in by adding an email alert for new TechNav content that is mapped to a tag. Alerts will be stored and generated by email on a periodic basis when new content is identified by TechNav;
• for improved usability, a new tab provides a high level summary of all tabs, and each OU or Society in the IEEE orgs tab contains a brief description;
• extended IEEE education related content to access structured data, an IEEE Xplore query includes books, IEEE.tv, IEEE USA eBooks and other short courses.
