Chapter & DL News

The IEEE Signal Processing Society provides funding support to local chapters for hosting Distinguished Lecturers and light refreshment break associated with chapter events. Chapters should follow the procedure for pre-approval and reimbursement.

The 2009 Annual Reporting and Rebate cycle process is now underway.  All Section Officers and Chapter/Affinity Group Chairs have been contacted with a reminder that the following annual reports are required to be eligible for a rebate:

IEEE SPS provides travel support for local chapters to invite SPS Distinguished Lecturers. And if you are interested in organizing a new SPS chapter, or participating in activities in a SPS local chapter near you, please check out Local Chapter Resources.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) announced the 2010 Class of Distinguished Lecturers.  Five colleagues were honored and they are: Sheila Hemami (Cornell University, NY); Shrikanth Narayanan (University of Southern California, CA); Antonio Oretga (University of Southern California, CA); Venu Veeravalli (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Il); and Abdelhak Zoubir (Darmstadt University of Technology, GERMANY).

The EURASIP and the IEEE Signal Processing Society Greek Chapter jointly organized a full-day event in October 2009 at the University of Athens: the inaugural "Greek Signal Processing Jam''. The event was envisioned as an opportunity to bring this community together, attract new talent to signal processing, and expose all to some of the latest developments in the broad area.
