News and Resources for Members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society

News & Announcements

The Signal Processing Society has added a new journal to its portfolio: The IEEE Transactions on Computational Imaging. This new, online-only, Transactions will publish original research results where computation plays an integral role in the image formation process. Original research will be published on all areas of computational imaging ranging from the principles and theory of computational imaging, to modeling paradigms for computational imaging, to image formation methods, to the latest innovative computational imaging system designs.

The aim of the Signal Processing Cup (SP Cup) competition is to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to form teams and work together to solve a challenging and interesting real-world problem using signal-processing techniques and methods. The inaugural event was held on 8 May 2014, at ICASSP2014, Florence, Italy. Three teams were selected to present their work for the final competition, and the prizes were awarded at the conference.

The Audio and Acoustic Signal Processing (AASP) Technical Committee promotes the advancement of technologies and applications in audio and acoustic signal processing and enhances interaction with similar organizations within IEEE and throughout the world.

IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) recently launched a new way for Sections to recognize members for their years of service to IEEE. The IEEE Loyalty Program allows Section leaders to thank new and longtime members alike, regardless of grade, with commemorative lapel pins to celebrate milestone years of IEEE membership.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) and the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) are proud to announce their new partnership, benefitting the signal processing community. The agreement allows SPS and EURASIP to support one another by way of co-sponsorship of EUSIPCO, co-sponsorship of seasonal schools held in Europe, sharing of Distinguished Lecturers, and more.

In a continuing effort to provide world-class resources to new and future generations of engineers, IEEE Young Professionals has introduced two new services – IEEE ResumeLab and IEEE Mentor Centre.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society organizes the SP Cup competition for undergraduates at ICASSP2015. This competition aims to provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to form teams and work together to solve a challenging and interesting real-world problem using signal-processing techniques. Three teams will be selected to present their work, and the prizes will be awarded at ICASSP 2015.

IEEE recently introduced the Student Transition and Elevation Partnership (STEP), a program designed to facilitate the seamless transition from IEEE Student member to young professional by emphasizing the value of IEEE membership at the onset of a STEM career. Through STEP activities and IEEE’s educational and professional resources, we strive to inspire students to consider IEEE membership as an asset during the beginning stages of their careers.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS: ICIP 2019 - Deadline 31 July 2014

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) is accepting proposals for the 2019 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP®). SPS Members are invited to submit a proposal to host ICIP 2019. If you are interested in submitting a proposal please reference our ICIP Proposal Guidelines.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) has more than 16,000 members worldwide – over 16,000 people’s worth of knowledge and ideas spread around the globe. While the conveniences of modern technology have certainly made worldwide communication easier, there’s great value in exchanging ideas face-to-face.
