The Latest News, Articles, and Events in Signal Processing

Candidate will work hands-on on developing and implementing innovative signal-processing solutions for Siemens businesses. Candidate will work on a broad variety of technologies and products relevant for Siemens businesses.

In the May issue of IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, the editorial article, by Dr. Ghassan AlRegib, raised a very interesting question. Which signal processing algorithms or theories have gone extinct (if any), and which ones have the highest impact on our current products and technologies?

IEEE recently released a beta version of the IEEE Technology Navigator (TechNav) that provides an integrated way to locate IEEE technical resources.

Users can select a technical concept or “tag,” and TechNav displays IEEE content and events (e.g., conferences, publications, standards, published articles). “Tags” are mapped to IEEE Societies and industry sectors, permitting navigation from two different spaces.

IEEE Signal Processing Society Summer School on "3D and High Definition/High Contrast Video Processing Systems" will be held at National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, 4-8 July 2011.

This free toolbox provides MATLAB functions and demonstrations for statistical modeling and mitigation of certain kinds of noise and interference in acoustic systems, power lines, wireless communications and wireless sensor networks.

The noise and interference can come from other sources in the same frequency band of operation or in adjacent frequency bands.  The toolbox enables a user to

The IEEE Signal Processing Society has enjoyed healthy financial operations for a number of years, thanks to the tremendous amount of effort from volunteers and the support from the staff. In order to leverage its financial strength to serve members and invest for the future prosperity of the signal processing community, the SPS Board of Governors has set aside a sizable amount of funds for 2011 and is working on the 2012 budget to explore various initiatives to expand member benefits and values, to outreach to signal processing communities worldwide, and to enhance the visibility of the SPS. For example, the Society has approved to allocate a substantial annual fund to support students and researchers in needs from developing countries to attend ICASSP and ICIP. Fifty-one SPS members who are ICASSP 2011 authors have been selected as the first group of travel grantees.
