IEEE SPS Ambassador Program

IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Industrial Relations Committee has established a new "Ambassador" program that is aimed to strengthen the relationship between IEEE SPS and the industry.

The program establishes new representatives in companies, referred to as Ambassadors, who will act as the interface in this relationship with the IEEE SPS. The Ambassador circle currently includes about 30 members from companies represented in technical committees. This core set has made its first meeting during the IEEE ICASSP Conference in May, in Vancouver, Canada. They will be extended with other Ambassadors, based on referrals and needs.

The Ambassadors will play a critical role in many activity areas of the SPS. To name a few:

  • Involve in awards and fellowships program to create industry awareness, and provide nominations to IEEE awards and fellowship committees for qualified individuals.
  • Increase membership in IEEE SPS, and elevations to IEEE Senior members and Fellows.
  • Play as an advocate for IEEE SPS within their respective companies.
  • Identify areas where IEEE SPS and its workshops/conferences can provide value to their companies, e.g., information sources, prepare library of tutorials, presentations, tutorials, etc.
  • Expose industry to new student talents looking for employment.
  • Help to endorse, sponsor and promote IEEE SPS conferences and workshops.

The Industrial Relations Committee will prepare an action plan detailing the steps (perhaps to be executed over several years) needed to make this broad vision come true. We have created an invitation-only based LinkedIn group for group discussions and announcements for the existing ambassadors. Please contact us if you would like to nominate yourself or one of your colleagues to be an Ambassador.
